The Voice Lab is delighted to announce that we have been awarded £5,000 through the Pride in Place Coatbridge Community Empowerment Grant, supported by the Coatbridge Neighbourhood Board.
This exciting funding will enable us to deliver a creative new programme for young people in Coatbridge, beginning in January 2027, combining communication and public speaking skills with hands-on experience in digital media production.
At the heart of the project will be a unique opportunity for young people to plan, produce and present their own short social media film for the Coatbridge Neighbourhood Board.
Through a series of engaging, practical workshops, participants will learn how to:
* Communicate with confidence – developing public speaking, presentation and self-expression skills.
* Speak on camera – building confidence and learning techniques used by presenters and broadcasters.
* Interview local residents – developing questioning, listening and interviewing techniques.
* Create digital content – learning the fundamentals of filming, framing and visual storytelling.
* Edit and produce a film – gaining practical experience in bringing their footage together into a finished social media production.
* Work collaboratively – developing teamwork, creativity, leadership and problem-solving skills.
The programme will bring these skills together in a meaningful, real-world project, giving young people the opportunity to engage with their local community, capture residents’ voices and contribute to a film that celebrates and reflects Coatbridge.
At The Voice Lab, we believe that confidence grows through experience. By combining public speaking with practical media skills, we aim to help young people discover their abilities, develop new interests and gain valuable skills for education, employment and everyday life.
We are incredibly grateful to the Coatbridge Neighbourhood Board and everyone involved in the Pride in Place Community Empowerment Grant for supporting this exciting opportunity.
We look forward to working with the young people of Coatbridge, helping them tell their community’s stories while discovering the power of their own voices.
Every young person has a voice. We’re here to help them find it.
Further details about the programme and how to get involved will be announced soon.
